Q: Hello, could you please tell me where you purchased the head and hands of the watchman prop? Thank you for making this prop so understandable and such easy to follow instructions. Keep up the great work! Thanks, Joe

Asked by: Joseph Lewis - 3/19/2016
A: Hi Joe, the head and hands came from Ghost Ride Productions. www.ghostride.com. The head is called Old Timer and the hands are their Caretaker hands.

Q: Can the mechanism be mounted vertically? Thinking of an animal neck....

Asked by: Maggie - 4/13/2017
A: Hello, the bearing in the mechanism is not designed to be used vertically. If you kept the mechanism horizontal and just bent the neck pipe, that would work as long as you supported the neck above the mechanism similar to the way it is on the Watchman. Thanks!

Q: Is this designed as an outdoor all weather prop?

Asked by: Ken - 8/10/2020
A: In order to have this prop out in the weather full time, you would need to take some steps to weatherproof the electrical connections at the motor itself and you would also need to house the speed controller and power supply in a weatherproof housing of some sort. I would also suggest adding a nice coating of grease to the bearing on the waist plate to repel moisture. The frame and the rest of the prop will have no issues being outside.

Q: If I want to make the watchman taller than the estimated 52", what is the maximum height you recommend? Is there a limit to the length of the spine (A)?

Asked by: TKJAX - 6/2/2022
A: Yes, you can certainly make it taller. You can add height to the legs as needed and also the spine. We would recommend two things, first, increase the length of the spine brace uprights as well to give the upper body/spine proper support. second, consider purchasing a set of out metal Prop Foot Pads for the base (Part # PFP-1) this will provide additional stability to heavier, taller props.

Q: Where did you get the lantern for this prop? What kind of weight will the arm hold and swing?

Asked by: Greg - 8/31/2018
A: I believe that particular lantern came from Walmart. You can pretty much use any similar lantern. It is much easier if you can find one that already has LED lights in it. The prop can turn a fair amount of weight, what the arm can hold will depend on the hands and the PVC itself. With the Watchman hands you can get away with a couple of pounds hanging without an issue.

Q: If I keep the hip platform level, will using the spider joints on the legs for a more dynamic pose cause issues? And, any suggestions with how to move the head just a few seconds before or after the hips begin to move. Thanks.

Asked by: Arnolfo - 8/24/2021
A: Using joints in the legs will not bother the Watchman Mechanism at all. The overall stability of the prop will be limited by the weight and pose using fittings in the legs as any deviation from solid legs will add some flex. We currently do not have any option for a turning head and turning torso together. Thanks,

Q: What size clothing would fit on this kit?

Asked by: Bryan Hoard - 9/20/2024
A: Hello, the overall clothing size can vary depending on how you finish the kit. The pants are typically a waist size of 38-40 and a length of 32-34. The chest can vary depending on what you use to fill it out. Typically, I look for at least an extra-large shirt or jacket. We buy a lot of items at thrift stores. It is helpful to bring along a measuring tape to get an idea if the items are close to your frame.
