Q: This indicates the prop is approximately 5'10". Does that assume a head in that measurement or is that strictly the PVC? (Some of your pictures show a foam head) It says finished but I would assume finished would make an allowance for a head so I wanted to clarify. Also, would this or the child version be strong enough to hold a lantern up in one hand? Thanks so much!

Asked by: Daphne - 8/9/2019
A: Yes, you are correct. The height is approximate and does include a head in the equation. The actual measurement will vary slightly depending on the head that you use.

Yes, either kit is able to hold a lantern in any position you’d like.

Q: My understanding is that the base is not included with this kit. What type of base would you recommend? Wooden? Something else? Any help would be appreciated!

Asked by: Cullen - 12/11/2023
A: Hello, if you plan on using the prop outdoors, we recommend using as 24" x 15" plywood base 3/4" thick. This gives you plenty of material to run screws into and the weight of that base will help keep the prop from getting blown over by wind. If you are making an indoor display, you can use a smaller base. We've used round solid wood tabletops (like 20 inch) you can buy at Home Depot. They look nicer for indoor displays.

Q: How much weight can this unit handle? Thinking of using this as an armature for a temporary figure utilizing monster mud soaked fabric for a cloaked figure.

Asked by: Ron - 1/15/2017
A: Hello, for a prop made with Monster Mud I would suggest using our KIT-3 configuration as it will handle more weight by design. If your figure does not need to have adjustable legs, I would consider removing the spider joints from the legs and making the legs out of straight lengths of PVC for the most stability.

Q: How tall is this kit I’m building a lifesize Dracula prop thanks ??

Asked by: criss boyd - 8/21/2023
A: Overall height will depend on the head that is used. When we created these they were measured using a standard foam male wig head and that was making the overall prop around 5'10". We can do special requests for additional height if needed at no additional cost in most cases.

Q: Does the Static complete kit come this the things needed to mount it to a base? If not what else do I need

Asked by: Debbie - 1/10/2024
A: Hello, You will need to provide (8) #10 wood screws. The length will be determined by the thickness of the material you use for your base. We typically use 3/4" thick plywood and 3/4" long screws. We can provide you 3/4" screws at N/C if you note your order. Thanks!

Q: Do you recommend this as a good starting point to build an animated hangman prop (with wiper motor)?

Asked by: Jeff - 6/1/2019
A: Not sure what animation you are looking to do? just kicking legs or something more? Our Spider Joints can be made to move with the addition of a fender washer in between the 2 halves. I would also recommend one of our MNT-PVC2 mounts for attaching your motor to the PVC frame. Please feel free to email us at info@spiderhillpropworks and we'll be happy to discuss your project in detail. Thanks!
