Question

Q: Can I use this kit to make a small, crouching prop? Or does it need a double spine to be more stable?

Hello, the TOT kit should be fine as far as stability goes. My only suggestion might be to purchase 2 additional Spider Joints for ankles if you plan on having your character crouch very close to the ground. this will allow your frame to have the maximum flexibility.

Hello, the most common way is to mount the frame to a wooden base. We recommend using 3/4" thick plywood. This base can be painted and or covered to help it blend into the surroundings. If you want to place it in a yard, you can drill holes in the centers of the bottom of the mounting bases (which are marked) and you can stand them up by pounding a length of steel rebar into the ground and then placing the frame over it with the rebar extending into the leg pipe.
